Learn about our mission, values, and the community we serve
The Luton Bangladeshi Muslim Funeral Trust (LBMFT) was established to serve the Bangladeshi Muslim community in Luton and the surrounding areas. Born from the understanding that funeral expenses can place a significant financial burden on families during their most difficult times, LBMFT was founded on the principle of collective support and shared responsibility.
Our trust operates as a community-led organisation, managed by dedicated volunteers who share a common commitment to ensuring that every member of our community receives a dignified farewell in accordance with Islamic teachings and traditions.
Through regular membership contributions, we maintain a fund that provides financial assistance for funeral costs, repatriation services, and related expenses. This collective approach means that no family has to face the burden of funeral costs alone.
To provide comprehensive funeral support services to the Bangladeshi Muslim community in Luton, ensuring every family receives compassionate assistance and financial support during bereavement, while upholding Islamic values and traditions.
To be the trusted pillar of support for every Bangladeshi Muslim family in Luton, creating a unified community where no family faces the burden of funeral arrangements alone, and where every individual receives a dignified farewell.
Service · Compassion · Dignity — the principles that guide everything we do.
We approach every situation with empathy and understanding, recognising the emotional and spiritual needs of bereaved families.
We ensure that every individual receives the respect and honour they deserve, with funeral arrangements conducted with the utmost care.
Our dedicated volunteers serve the community selflessly, providing support and guidance whenever and wherever it is needed.
We foster a strong sense of belonging and mutual support, bringing together families from across Luton's Bangladeshi Muslim community.
We maintain clear, open communication about our operations, finances, and decision-making to build and maintain trust.
Our work is grounded in Islamic principles, and we ensure all services are conducted in accordance with Islamic teachings and traditions.
We provide financial support from our collective fund to help cover funeral and burial costs, reducing the financial strain on grieving families.
For families wishing to repatriate their loved one to Bangladesh, we provide assistance with logistics, documentation, and associated costs.
We assist families with all necessary paperwork, including death certificates, burial permits, and other administrative requirements.
Our volunteers provide guidance on all aspects of Islamic funeral rites, including ghusl (washing), kafan (shrouding), janazah (prayer), and burial.
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.”
— Surah Al-Imran 3:103
